Deep Blue Something

Every so often I'll find myself in a color coma.  Everywhere I turn, there it is.  While "honeysuckle" may be considered the color of 2011, all I'm seeing is blue.  Not just any blue, though.  Yes, it's equally striking as the bright, girly pink hue Pantone crowned but just a little, well, cooler...that's color-speak too so go ahead and embrace that pun.  Electric, royal, lapis...I haven't managed to settle on an overall label for it, but trust me, you'll know when you see it.  It's rich and vibrant and about as happy-go-lucky as the one hit made famous by the band/title of this post.  I've already managed to create quite a collection of blue-centric accessories with my eye on a few more.  And apparently, the fashion world agrees, offering everything from Celine to Zara, trousers to clutches in this striking cerulean.  Sometimes it's ok to have a blue period, just ask Picasso.

Clutch Players

When it comes to bags, my motto has always been the bigger the better.  How else would I get though the day without having all of my "essentials" at my finger tips?  I've had a patent leather clutch for a few years but relegated it to special occasion-use only because, well, it's small.  Like, only fit the absolute, bare bones essentials small.  I must say, all of the small pouches and clutches popping up lately has me questioning my loyalties.  Brightly hued or classically demure, I'm seriously considering giving minimalism a try.  Perhaps my spring cleaning will start with my purse.

Tous Les Garcons et Les Filles

New style icon: Francoise Hardy.

She rode the wave of the Yé-Yé craze in France to stardom after getting signed in 1961 and releasing the song "Tous Les Garcons et Les Filles".  Her effortless style is trés chic and oh so French, beloved by the fashion set and musicians alike (but probably for different reasons).

Alexa Chung + Freja Beha Erichsen + just a dash of Hilary Swank + a hint of Jane Birkin = Francoise, non?

(bob dylan)

I'm all about her fringe-y bangs, winged-out eyeliner, and delicate minimalism.

Oh and at 66, she still looks pretty great.
